| | Error message when backing up file I am trying to back up my files to an external hard drive (drive G) and about a month ago started getting "Back up cannot complete. catostrophic error 0x8000FFFF" I tried to reset my back up settings (from the control panel) and also get an error message about the C drive. Any help would be much appreciated. |

| | Re: Error message when backing up file Most often, the write caching was turned off, and you failed to use the 'safely remove hardware' wizard. The properties of the drive have a "Policies" tab for that. Toggling that setting back and forth may reset your system. -- Was this helpful? Then click the Ratings button.
