| Guest | Dual booting Vista SP1 and XP SP2 FYI: There have been some comments that SP1 would prevent XP's deletion of Vista's restore points. Not true, they are deleted. Perhaps XP's SP3 will prevent it. |

| Guest | Re: Dual booting Vista SP1 and XP SP2 I see you got a link, but in short, if Vista is installed first, you need a third party boot manager to install XP without reinstalling/repairing Vista "liu" <spamfreeliu@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:04247897-ce34-4316-b80e-fb1338f960bc@xxxxxx On Feb 13, 2:15 am, "CZ" <C...@xxxxxx> wrote: Quote: > FYI: > > There have been some comments that SP1 would prevent XP's deletion of > Vista's restore points. > Not true, they are deleted. Perhaps XP's SP3 will prevent it. it.... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926185 The only side effect that I can see is that - when in XP - you won't be able to access any files stored on the Vista partition. |

Lee: Actually, I find XP's ability to delete Vista's restore points useful. Vista ignores my max setting for disk space to be used for restore points (as did XP). And, Disk Cleanup does not always free a significant amount of the disk space used by the restore points. So, a quick boot into XP solves the problem. |

Assuming that the only resolution is to hide the Vista partition from XP this could have major consequences for some (e.g. what if XP is currently set to share document folders currently held on the Vista partition?). |
