Vista - Keyboard shortcuts

I recently accidentally pressed some combination of keys, and right now I'm
not sure what I pressed--but it basically took 2 different-sized windows and
put them right next to each other on the screen, of equal size and filling up
the entire screen. It's something I could theoretically achieve through
resizing the windows, but I was wondering if anyone knew what the exact
combination is that quickly does this (and perhaps any other similar
shortcuts that aren't mentioned in the Help guide).

Hi, flotusocks.

I don't know which key combination does this, but you can right-click on the
Taskbar and then choose from the context menu. You can Cascade 'em, Stack
'em or Show 'em side by side.

The Help file will show this if you enter cascade in its Search box. But I
don't see keystrokes mentioned there.

Hi,

Right click the taskbar, choose 'Show Windows Side by Side" will do it.
There will also be an undo option when you've selected on of the options on
that context menu. How you achieved it with a key combination may have just
been a coincidence of strokes.

Dunno if these are mentioned in Help or not. But holding down the Windows
key with the letters below does the following:

e - Opens Windows Explorer.
m - Minimizes all open windows.
l - Locks the computer.
d - Brings up the desktop (as far as I can tell, it's the same as what
happens with the m key).
g - Brings up your gadgets one by one (i.e., each time you click the key
combination). Note: I keep my gadgets detached from the sidebar, so I don't
know if it works the same way if your gadgets aren't detached.
f - Is for Find. It opens a search box.
r - Is for Run.
t - Is for toggle. It toggles the thumbnail view of tabs in the taskbar.
Let's say you have a photo open, Quicken, the browser and Windows Mail. You
will have tabs showing on the taskbar at the bottom. Each time you press t
while holding down the Windows key, the thumbnail view will toggle through
each tab. If there's one you want to maximize or bring to the front, hit the
enter key. I don't know if Aero has to be activated for this to work. I use
Aero.
