Re: my battery icon has gone

Rightclick the Start button, then Properties, Notification tab, uncheck the
"Hide inactive icons" checkbox.

RE: my battery icon has gone

Hi tomuk,

Right click the start orb and select 'Properties'. Select the 'Notification
Area' tab. In the section headed 'System icons', check that there is a tick
in the checkbox next to 'Power'. The other three options in this section are
also useful ones to display if you aren't already displaying them. They are
selected in the same way as described above.

RE: my battery icon has gone

The checkbox next to "Power" won't let me check it off. Now what?

Re: my battery icon has gone

I have the same problem that Anne has.... power icon does NOT show in taskbar, it is greyed out and CANNOT be checked in TASKBAR AND START MENU PROPERTIES/NOTIFICATION AREA. I have two IDENTICAL HP laptops, vista 64bit, one works fine, other does not... I find no way to turn the power icon ON.

Inactive icons are NOT hidden on either machine.

Re: my battery icon has gone

update 6/28/08
Another vote for instability in VISTA... all day yesterday I had this problem... also again this morning... greyed out.. I basically opened the registery editor, went to that area, discovered that the proper "hide" entries were not there and just shut the editor.

Later, I went to see the settings...and BEHOLD... the power icon was available, I checked it and it popped up!!
