| | CD/DVD no longer works The CD/DVD no longer works if I put a CD in the drive it says "Insert Disc" I have not installed any new software. If I have a CD in when I start the computer I can hear the CD spin up so I know the CD works. I have tried to unistall and reinstall driver with no luck.. |

Windows will find drive and correct drivers upon restart. Please post back with results. "D. Meyer" <D. | | Re: CD/DVD no longer works You are supposed to go to the registry, find {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} and delete the upper and lower filters. See support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/314060 for complete details. In my case, however, I cannot find the upper and lower filters. | | Re: CD/DVD no longer works Thanks for your very quick response, but I have applied the fixes in every one of these articles, and my computer still insists on using a CD driver instead of a DVD driver. I am getting ready to smash it to bits, but even then I don't think it would help.
