| | Explorer Window Question I'm running Vista Ultimate 64-bit. Every time I open an Explorer window the directory tree on the left side is pretty fully expanded - more expanded than I prefer. Is there a way I can have these windows retain a certain directory tree format, so that every time I open such a window the directory tree is at the level of expansion/contraction that I prefer? Thanks. -- ---------- CWLee Former slayer of dragons; practice now limited to sacred cows. Believing we should hire for quality, not quotas, and promote for performance, not preferences. |

| | Re: Explorer Window Question you can use a switch to tell WE to open for example on C or another folder instead of the stupid default one that has so many folders to do this you must right click on the Win explorer short cut and in the TARGET box add this command %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,X:\ where X is the name of the drive you want to open or give the full path if you want a folder to open for example my setting for drive E is this %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,E:\ the /e tells WE to expand the folder, if you dont want it to expand at all you can remove that "CWLee" <cdubyalee@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:uPD2cqocIHA.1212@xxxxxx Quote: > > I'm running Vista Ultimate 64-bit. > > Every time I open an Explorer window the directory tree on the left side > is pretty fully expanded - more expanded than I prefer. | | Re: Explorer Window Question Thanks to On the Bridge and Brink for their suggestions. It worked just fine. I noticed something strange, and maybe you can explain it. I'm using the Classic mode, and when I go Start > Programs > Accessories I get a list that includes TWO Windows Explorer items. As near as I can tell they are identical. Can anyone explain that? Thanks again guys. ===================== "CWLee" <cdubyalee@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:uPD2cqocIHA.1212@xxxxxx Quote: > > I'm running Vista Ultimate 64-bit. > > Every time I open an Explorer window the directory tree on > the left side is pretty fully expanded - more expanded > than I prefer. | | Re: Explorer Window Question the start menu is a mesh of >>> the all users menu and your current user menu so one is from the all users and the other one is from the user you are currently logged on There must be some difference or else they would merge into one... | | Re: Explorer Window Question Thanks again to Brink and On the Bridge. I have since discovered a 3rd Windows Explorer, shown at the very bottom of the listing of accessories. They all had the same target designation, and appeared to be otherwise identical, except for the creation dates. I deleted two of them and expect no problems. Thanks again. ================== "CWLee" <cdubyalee@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:O0tiu2pcIHA.5208@xxxxxx Quote: > > Thanks to On the Bridge and Brink for their suggestions. > It worked just fine. > > I noticed something strange, and maybe you can explain it. > I'm using the Classic mode, and when I go Start > Programs Quote: > > Accessories I get a list that includes TWO Windows > > Can anyone explain that? > > Thanks again guys. > > ===================== > > "CWLee" <cdubyalee@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news:uPD2cqocIHA.1212@xxxxxx Quote: >> >> I'm running Vista Ultimate 64-bit. >> >> Every time I open an Explorer window the directory tree >> on the left side is pretty fully expanded - more expanded >> than I prefer.
