You're wrong :-) :-) :-) Tomcat is a seperate project, it's
an application server like...websphere...

Sounds like a hardware issue. Cyberpower has a spotty reputation.

Have you tried their tech support. I'll bet they're completely UNhelpful.
I owned a Cyberpower machine once.

Really!?!?

The upgrade advisor knows about *EVERY SINGLE* program in existance?

So if I write a new program tomorrow that nobody in the world has seen
yet, it'll be able to tell me if it can run on Vista?

Re: What a Mistake!

In reading the thread at hand it would appear that none of your
responses are relevant.

There is a ton of child like quips about how you should by a Mac or its
the users fault for not checking, or how stupid you are for buying a
mass market laptop with Vista, or run Linux or other such crap.

Non of this is remotely constructive in fixing or relaying information
on a forum discussing VISTA! Some of us would like answers to questions
concerning problem solving VISTA issues. Not insulting tripe about how
you should by some other piece of hardware or software.

I am looking at "Downgrading" to XP, but I want to make sure my new
Laptop investment wont fail because I don't have some silly driver made
only for Vista because it's brand-new-ness.

Note for the Mac Nazis: I Don't want one - And I used to work for Apple
- Wrap your head around that.

I would much rather install Linux and work through some minor issues
than replace all of my hardware and software just to follow another set
of mindless drones.

Lets work on handing out information on Vista - The focus of the forum.

Thank you,
Shock

This should easily just work. Are you getting any digital feed from the
player at all? Read: can you play audio normally from the player? You can
WMP's Tools:Optionsevices settings for that drive to check if Playback and
Ripping are using Analog Or Digital. You might want to try the other.

But I don't know how you're taping line-in here - it sounds like you're not
ripping from the player but instead are using some other random third party
recording utility..... ?

Which applications?
What COM errors are you referring to?

If you're having problems viewing PNG files, that may be the result of a
third party accidentally blocking access to PNG registry keys. Could you
right-click on a couple of the "X"s and verify what file types those
non-appearing images were supposed to be? I believe an earlier version of
Apple's QuickTime could accidentally do that (?) - there's a thread in
microsoft.public.vista.administration_accounts_passwords on the subject that
might be helpful.

RE: What a Mistake!

I'm very happy that you addressed the individual issues instead of flaming MS
and saying "Vista sucks" in general. Therefore, I will try to provide as
many answers as I can.

I think that this issue (which, until recently, I had too) has to do with
your sound card and its functions of recording. You may need a new sound
card to be able to directly record from the software standpoint.

On the old programs, did you try running in "compatibility mode" for XP?

As another said, buying a Mac when you don't have the skills to get Vista to
work mwill be even more of a headache than getting your favorite programs to
work on Vista. You'll need to figure out things like: Emulation, Virtual
Machinery, and Dual-Booting.
