Business/Enterprise/Ultimate, I'm pretty sure that there is a setting to disable that using Group Policy, but if someone has done that, you are unlikely to have Admin rights. Try running gpedit.msc and see. ss. |

| | Re: Vista Start menu problem My vista is Ultimate, I have admin rights. I already tried to find changes in my GP, but do not exist any GP setting for my pc or user, and the last modification happened in months (this problem appeared yesterday) I look out in local policies too (gpedit.msc), not found =( Thanks for you attention Ivan Carlos - Chief Information & Security Officer E-mail / Skype / WLM: icarlos@xxxxxx Cell.: +55 (11) 8112-0666 Synapse Syndrome wrote: Quote: > "Doomer" <icarlos@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news:uaSeu8XdIHA.1208@xxxxxx Quote: >> I'm in trouble with this Vista Start menu, all my recent programs >> disappears and I can't reconfig that, it's inacessible, someone know how >> to fix that? >> >> Thanks a lot! > Have you got Admin rights to the machine? | | Re: Vista Start menu problem Doomer open the taskbar and start menu properties window and then click on the 'Start Menu' tab. In the 'privacy' section is there a 'tick' mark next to the option 'store and display a list of recently opened programs'? If the tick is missing, then this is he reason for your problem. Just click on the box to replace the 'tick' and everything should be as I was. -- -- John Barnett MVP Associate Expert Windows Desktop Experience Web: http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org Web: http://vistasupport.mvps.org The information in this mail/post is supplied "as is". | | Re: Vista Start menu problem Ivan Open Gpedit.msc and you will find the optional settings under User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Start Menu and Taskbar. Specifically, you want to check these 2 policies to make sure they are either 'Not configured' or 'Disabled'. 'Remove recent items menu from start menu' 'Do not keep history of recently opened documents' -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Desktop Experience "Doomer" <icarlos@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:OC079IYdIHA.3788@xxxxxx Quote: > My vista is Ultimate, I have admin rights. > > I already tried to find changes in my GP, but do not exist any GP setting > for my pc or user, and the last modification happened in months (this > problem appeared yesterday) > > I look out in local policies too (gpedit.msc), not found =( > > Thanks for you attention > > Ivan Carlos - Chief Information & Security Officer > E-mail / Skype / WLM: icarlos@xxxxxx > Cell.: +55 (11) 8112-0666 > > Synapse Syndrome wrote: Quote: >> "Doomer" <icarlos@xxxxxx> wrote in message >> news:uaSeu8XdIHA.1208@xxxxxx Quote: >>> I'm in trouble with this Vista Start menu, all my recent programs >>> disappears and I can't reconfig that, it's inacessible, someone know how >>> to fix that? >>> >>> Thanks a lot! >> Have you got Admin rights to the machine? | | Re: Vista Start menu problem Ronnie, my start menu is set to 'not' display recent programs. Because of this, if I were to do a screenshot, the screenshot would look very similar to Ivan's, including the start menu size being grayed out. By simply enabling the 'store and display recently opened programs' makes the recent opened programs menu active and also enables the start menu size. Editing Group Policy is a long winded way of, basically, doing the same thing. Okay some things you cannot do so easily without editing group policy, but simple things such as disabling/enabling recent programs and putting the run option on the start menu are, I feel, better accessed from the start menu properties than group policy. -- -- John Barnett MVP Associate Expert Windows Desktop Experience Web: http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org Web: http://vistasupport.mvps.org The information in this mail/post is supplied "as is". | | Re: Vista Start menu problem John The only reason I mentioned the GPEdit settings was because the OP mentioned that he didn't see any settings in there that might cause this behavior. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Desktop Experience "John Barnett MVP" <freelance@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:739EDBE2-761F-4848-90D7-DF742FC5D7EA@xxxxxx Quote: > Ronnie, my start menu is set to 'not' display recent programs.
