Error 1606

I installed Vista on one of the computers on our home network. After much
hair-pulling I got Vista to recognize the network (I burned the transfer
program from Vista to CD and ran it on the XP Computer) so I could transfer
files from this comuputer (running XP Pro) to the Vista computer. However,
now when I try to install software on the XP computer, I get Error 1606.
Could not access network location \\IBM-h2zk2sfmypl\shareddocs\Wendy's
Stuff\My Pictures\.

How the heck do I fix this problem?

Re: Error 1606/ Try these regedits.

Wendy--

Try the regedits in here:

You receive an "Error 1606" error message when you try to install or remove
a Microsoft program
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/886549/

This list should work as well:

Good luck,

CH

Re: Error 1606

I have had VISTA for a couple of years and I don't usually have a problem. Right now I am getting an error 1606 with a message of %APPDATA%\. It won't allow me to use iTunes, there is an error with trying to use or upload Acrobat Reader and I get an message reading "internal error occurred". When I save a Word 2007 document I get all kinds of messages stating there has been a problem with AutoCorrect file. Does anybody have any ideas?

I keep up with problem reports and checks and right now some of them won't install due to this problems. Thanks

Re: Error 1606

Hello everyone,
Well, I have returned to post my results after searching for a solution for hours and finally arriving to one that was specific to my problem....and I decided to share with others experiencing a similar problem.

I had the same problem as FallonSue....It took a couple of hours of searching but I followed the instructions located here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/886549/ on a microsoft support page and so far the problem has been fixed.

Hope this helps!!!
Good luck
Timothy
