Control Panel - System Does Not Show Processor or Memory

    Hello,
I am hoping someone can tell me how to fix this issue I am having.
I am currently running Windows Vista and when I go to Control Panel and then
Click on System, under the System information where it lists the manufacturer
and model, where it would say the Processor and Memory it is saying Not
Available. How do I get my system to recognize what my Processor is and what
size Memory is installed on this PC. Any help would be appreciated

Are you able to get this info by clicking "Start > Run" then typing in
    "msinfo32" then hitting enter?

Re: Control Panel - System Does Not Show Processor or Memory

    Tech,
When I go to Start > Run and then type in msinfo32, I get the
    following message:
    Can't Collect Information
Cannot access the Windows Management Instrumentation software. Windows
Management files may be moved or missing.

Any additional help would be appreciated....

    Thanks,

    Hello,
I even started the PC in Safemode, and I still get the same indication
stating the Memory and Processor are not available. Does anyone have any
additional information that can assist me.

    Thanks,

Tell me the status of "WMI Performance Adapter" under services.

Click "Start(Orb)", Right Click "Computer", then "Manage", then
"Services and Applications" then "Services" to find it.

Also check your event log while you are in there. Look for any WMI
problems under the "Application" or "System" logs.

Re: Control Panel - System Does Not Show Processor or Memory

    Tech,
First off there is no WMI Performance Adapter.

In the Event Log I see numerous events fot Source WMI, log Name:
Application. the Event ID = 63, also Event ID = 5617.

A provider, WmiPerfClass, has been registered in the Windows Management
Instrumentation namespace root\cimv2 to use the LocalSystem account. This
account is privileged and the provider may cause a security violation if it
does not correctly impersonate user requests.

Not sure what all these event id's are but I don't see anything out of the
ordinary..... Any further help would be appreciated....

    Thanks,

Re: Control Panel - System Does Not Show Processor or Memory

Was wondering if anyone has any other information that they can pass onto me.
I also downloaded any and all updates, and still it is saying Not Available.
I also checked another LapTop made by Sony, and it also is showing Processor
and Memory - Not Available. Any help would really be appreciated......

    Thanks,

Re: Control Panel - System Does Not Show Processor or Memory

I was able to find a fix for this issue, and I figured I would pass it on.
First off you need to make sure that you have Admin rights on the PC.

    1- Open Command Prompt
2- At the Command Prompt enter the following command exactly as written:

net localgroup "Administrators" "NT Authority\Service" /add

then press enter and you should be ready to go. It worked like a charm for
me on the two PC's that were having the exact same problem......
