get back my display settings in XP Home

I asked by email why I couldn't type in Product key to activate Money Plus
Deluxe. MS said I had to "Change the font size in Windows back to the default
size". I did. It worked!
My desktop looks like sh_t. I haven't turm my computer off yet.
Now how do I get my display settings back where they were?

Re: get back my display settings in XP Home

What does "Control Panel/Personalization/see 'tasks' sidebar" mean? I have no
"Personalization" on my control panel.

Start Orb>Control Panel>Appearance and Personalization. Double-click on A&P.
On the left side of that applet you will see "Tasks" where you can do
various things to the appearance of your computer. Here is a link to
instructions about all the things you can do in this area:

Microsoft Help and How-To page about Personalizing your computer:
http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...rsonalize.mspx

Since you didn't tell us what changes you made to your computer's appearance
or what it looked like before (to which you are trying to get back), we
can't give you more specific instructions.

So go to the link above and read through it, making the changes that you
wish. It is always wise to make one change at a time and see how you like
something before going onto the next item.

Aren't you the clever one?! :-) I didn't notice the Subject line and since
s/he posted in vista.general, I just assumed s/he was using Vista. Silly,
silly me.

To "peen" - well, now you know why the people who were trying to help you
were pointing you to a place you don't have. Next time when you have a
problem with Windows XP, you should post in a Windows XP newsgroup and not
one for Windows Vista!

For XP, go to Control Panel>Display. The other comments I made about not
knowing what you did and what you had and suggesting that you only make one
change at a time are still applicable.

Re: get back my display settings in XP Home

When the OP failed to elucidate, I gave up. It's not my system that's
broken.

(Actually, it's she that's the current MVP, I'm a 'past master'.)
