power options not functioning

Hi,

I'm running windows vista home premium.

Windows fails to recognize my computer is idling.

1) "Choose when to turn off the display" does not work no matter what time
interval i set it to. I have tried turning off Adaptive display, does not
help.

2) Msn fails to change state to "away" after whatever time interval i set as
well.

thanks.

Re: power options not functioning

Go to Advance Power Settings.
Set hard drive to turn off a minute or 2 before sleep.
Set Hybrid and Hibernate modes to "Never"
Under USB settings select "Disable"
Under Multimedia select "Allow ....."

Hi bob,

thanks, I have tried the setting and restarted, but still it doesnt work. msn still stays online and display doesnt go off, for some reasons, the computer fails to recognize the idling.

Re: power options not functioning

Have you installed the latest drivers for your video card and/or your
monitor?

Re: power options not functioning

I would like to off an additional suggestion but I can't because you did not
include any relevant information from this thread.
