Problem accessing network Folder

My Vista machine has trouble accessing a folder on my file server. This only
started to occur recently. When I try to access the folder, I can see the
files (with grey crosses over the icons), but when I try to open them the
message "\\server\user\thys\my documents\*.doc is not accesible. You might
not have permission to use this network resource..... This file is currently
not available for use on this computer."

I can access other files in other folders on this server.

Reboot does not help.

When I would restore to a previous restore point, it fixed the problem.
Once when I did not wnat to restore futhther, I cancelled the previous
restore, and the problem was also resolved.

I can access the folder from any other PC.

Any suggestions? Please help!

When I would restore to a previous restore point, it fixed the problem.
Once when I did not want to restore beyond the last restore point, I
cancelled the previous
restore, and the problem was also resolved.

I can access the folder from any other PC.

Any suggestions? Please help!

Re: Problem accessing network Folder

You may want to try these two mods on the Vista box thats not accessing the
server:

1. Go into Command prompt as Administrator and run
net localgroup "Administrators" "NT Authority\Local Service" /add

2. In regedit, navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
Modify or create DWORD value named LmCompatibilityLevel
Set value to 1
Exit and Reboot

Re: Problem accessing network Folder

Thanks for your help. the solution didn't work though. Immediately after I
installed the latest update (Office SP1), i was denied access to the folder
again (\\server\users\). in the meantime, on the server, I shared the
subfolder that I really need to work from (\\server\users\thys). I have no
problem in accessing that share now!

I no too little about permissions and shares on how to find out what the
problem is. But at least this works!

Thanks again
