Vista Reboots my XP Pro

when i try to file transfer from my vista computer to my xp pro computer, the
xp pro will shutdown and reboot, even when i try wireless or connected to a
cat5 cable, no differance

i have a home network, 3 computers, on a belkin wireless router

desktop is xp pro with sp2 (wired) (printer installed on desktop)
laptop 1 is vista with all current updates (wireless)
laptop 2 is xp home sp2 (wireless)

the problem i am having is, i can connect to all computers from all
computers, read only
i can transfer files from desktop to both laptops
i can transfer files from laptop 2 to desktop
i can transfer files from desktop to laptop 1 and 2 ( both ways )

i can not transfer files to laptop 1 to the desktop ( vista to xp pro )
i can install a new printer on laptop 1 wireless, and it see's the printer,
but i can not print from laptop 1
i can print from my desktop and my laptop 2, no problem

so the problem is from vista to xp pro, i can not access from vista to xp,
for file transfer or printer, but i can transfer from xp pro to vista

Re: Vista Reboots my XP Pro

Probably, Laptop 2 has an identical ID/Pass on both itself and the desktop.
Laptop one lacks that. There are ways to setup the system to not need
identical user name/passwords, but that's the easiest.

Re: Vista Reboots my XP Pro

I did not have the exact same symptoms before mine would reboot as it did it
more randomly. You may want to try testing your RAM. You can use
Simmtester (did not work with my hardware configuration)
http://www.simmtester.com/page/products/doc/docinfo.asp or Memtest-86
www.memtest86.com to test your RAM when you boot up. I was having reboots
and Vista errors. It appears that Vista is even more finicky with RAM than
XP was. Since diagnosing the errors and replacing the RAM, everything has
been working great (knock on wood).

Good luck
