when I use ready boost on my acer laptop and am on battery power, after a
short time (less than 5 minutes) my screen goes black. the computer is
still on after when the screen goes black. what can I do to stop this?

Wait till SP1 is issued. it will probably take care of that.

The hybrid sleep feature and the hibernation feature in Windows Vista may
become unavailable after you use the Disk Cleanup Tool :
