| | Meaning of "sleep time" in Vista Event Viewer? While troubleshooting an unexpected restart (turned out to be Windows Update), I stumbled across Event Viewer (System) entries like: The system has resumed from sleep. Sleep Time: 3/3/2008 2:08:50 PM Wake Time: 3/3/2008 5:43:38 PM Wake Source: Unknown I have searched Google and support.microsoft.com to no avail, trying to understand what these two times mean. I would appreciate any pointer or any direct explanation. Thanks! |

| | Re: Meaning of "sleep time" in Vista Event Viewer? That's self explanatory. The computer entered the Sleep State and then resumed from the Sleep State. Go to start, click Help and Support. In the Search Box, type Sleep State. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Desktop Experience "EhrFred" <fred.ehrhardt@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:4f011461-7259-4000-9f18-439467798c29@xxxxxx Quote: > While troubleshooting an unexpected restart (turned out to be Windows > Update), I stumbled across Event Viewer (System) entries like: > > The system has resumed from sleep. > > Sleep Time: 3/3/2008 2:08:50 PM > Wake Time: 3/3/2008 5:43:38 PM > > Wake Source: Unknown > > I have searched Google and support.microsoft.com to no avail, trying > to understand what these two times mean. So with my timezone = EST, now that I stare at Event Viewer once more, the "Logged" time = 3/3/2008 12:43:40 PM and if I add 5 hours to convert to UTC then I get: Wake Time: 3/3/2008 5:43:38 PM I had noticed some search hits about misleading / lazy application of local timezone but it didn't register until I saw your response. Thank you. |
