Re: Exclusive: Not too exculsive/Tons of his predictions wrong.

Paul Thurott has been documented as dead wrong about 15 times since Vista
began to be a gleam in the eye. Markedly wrong. Longtime Windows release
watchers woudn't bat a serious eye at this information.

MSFT is under very heavy pressure at the highest levels this moment from
MVPs and many influential people to bakc their butts up with the Vista
release.

Ed Bott has called the schedule "horrendous." He writes the best selling
and certainly one of the best books on Vista. It has sold a million copies
and it is 15 pages long.

I can show you a ton of Windows experts who are among the best known writers
and teachers of it who say the same.

The best known MSFT Blogger and Employee who Blogged has said the same.

I would never count on (no discredit to the fine work Paul does) a Paul
Thurott Redmond anybody told me this because they often pull the rug out
from under Paul.

Re: Exclusive: Not too exculsive/Tons of his predictions wrong.

Correction: Ed Bott's Vista Inside Out MSFT Press has presold over 900,000
copies and XP Inside Out was over 1500 pages long. All of it is well done.

Too ridiculous. The thesis RC1 woulr release in the first two weeks of
September, and then something wouldbe slapped together with a Windows Start
button and some superficial changes called RC2 and then badda bing Wegner
Edstrom would slap lipstick, rouge and tons of mascara on a limping pig and
trot it out as Vista. I don't think Paul Thurott has learned the principle
of "escrow" is when funds are deposited to be held until a promised service
is delivered. So MSFT is putting this turkey "in Escrow" for what for whom
for why?

Vista has so many fundamental flaws right now that even the least
experienced users are picking them off. They would be shocked if they were
able to look further under the hood.

They would be shocked if MSFT weren't so paranoid that they hide their bug
reports and won't make public what they've fixed, won't fix, can't fix, and
will fix or don't konw whether they'll fix.

CH

Congratulations to the polished, euridite opponent of Hillary Clinton, John
Spenser who released an add with Hillary Clinton next to Bin Ladin and
mispelled the word fascist. Of course John Spenser isn't even close to
having an ice cube's chanc ein hell.

Kudos to the stupid republicans who don't understand what foiled the bomb
attack in Britain were old fashioned warrants and old fashioned surveillance
and infiltration.

The party that opposes evolution is squarely planted in the belly of
Darwin's Waiting Room.

Re: Exclusive: Microsoft Still Plans October 2006 Vista Release

That is common with Intel chipsets. I ordered a new Core 2 Duo system
August 2 and it is on hold for the cpu and cooler. I just got an email from
my system builder about the reason for the delay and that's how I found out
about the one week delay for the E6600 and E6700 launches.

Interestingly, it appears that I will be able to upgrade my MacBook Pro from
Core Duo to Core 2 Duo with just a cpu swap and a firmware update. I am
only one more computer away from going all 64.

Re: Exclusive: Microsoft Still Plans October 2006 Vista Release

Well, my Dell XPS 600 is now a Discontinued Product, so trying to get a BIOS
Update (The Dell OEM A10 BIOS Revision Does NOT Support Intel Core 2 Duo) out
of them may be Impossible, and I might need to Upgrade the NVIDIA Chipset to
the 590 Series SLI Intel Edition MCP, as well.

Re: Exclusive: Microsoft Still Plans October 2006 Vista Release

"Microsoft has placed build 5520 into escrow as the RC1 of Vista"

Considering definition of escrow is "a piece of property held in trust by a
third party to be turned over to the grantee only upon fulfillment of a
condition", it makes me wonder why the word escrow is even used.
The agreeement is normally between the 1st and 2nd parties, presumably MS
and the public. (In this case the 3rd party would be the Beta testers).
So this begs the question, what is the 'condition' b/w MS and the public?,
and if it was 'fulfilled' what would the beta testers turn over?.

See my logic?. 'Escrow' appears to be a poor word choice.

Re: Exclusive: Microsoft Still Plans October 2006 Vista Release

I think the 'condition' is that the code is at a release-candidate level.
And that it will stay there until that condition is fullfilled. But just
guessing here.
