why extend option in disk management is gray?

Hi
I have a problem ,
I have a Dell inspiron 6400 laptop
my C drive is full then I tried to extend it with 10G free space
after it(Contiguous space) but the extend option is grayed
I don`t understand why vista does not allow me,
can you help me?
my disk organized as:
47M(Eisa configuration)|15G(c-system-boot-primary)|10G(free space)|38G(D)|11G(G)|37G(f)|2G(primary partition)

this free space is into extended partition.
all file systems are NTFS.
