Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error and Paint Shop Pro x2

I was using PSP x2 on my new HP laptop (bought in November) the software was
purchased from Corel about 3 or 4 months ago. It worked fine then suddenly
wouldn't work and all I get is the runtime error... I have installed and
uninstalled it, done all the updates that have been suggested... HP has been
NO help. I am just about ready to pitch it all out the window. Any help
would be appreciated..

Oh I am running Windows Vista Home Premium.

Rightclick the PSP executable, and 'run as administrator'. A shortcut can be
created, and set in Properties to do this.

Re: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error and Paint Shop Pro

I would try a reinstall from Safe Mode, if it will let you. (F8 on restart)

An obvious thing to try is System Restore, to a time before this started
happening.

I really do not see how that could help. How would installing without
non-default drivers make any difference?

That would be an obvious fix for me too except for one slight problem... I
had a problem with my computer not recognizing the cd drive and had to spend
over an hour on the phone with the guy from HP to fix this problem, this was
more recent than the time that my PSP stop working and I don't want to do a
system restore and wipe out all of that.... I might not be rationalizing it
correctly but I don't want to have to go through that again....

Basically I am fed up with Windows Vista, I didn't have these types of
problems with XP... since I got this computer in late November I have had to
fix the cd drive problem twice, and at least three time it stopped
recognizing my printer... I suppose in the big scheme of things not major
things but all together a major pain in the rear!

Re: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error and Paint Shop Pro x2

I have Paint shop Pro PhotoX2 also, purchased just a few mos. ago. I
have used this program since Paint shop Pro 6 or 7 when it was Jasc. I
am getting "Microsoft Visual C++ runtime errors when I try to open the
program. I also cannot open Corel Painter and Media One. The only
thing that works is Video Studio. I have talked to tech without result!
I have tried uninstalling X4 and re-installing. I even went ahead and
did the restore. NOTHING I do works. Now the tech people tell me I
will have to CALL for assistance and that will cost $15. What a rip!!!
I just want to know if it is the program or the computer. I am running
Windows XP, so I doubt if Vista is the problem for the other person. I
am ready to re-format, and I hate to do it. I am NOT going to mess with
Corel again in the future!!!!
