Vista - how can i switch vista to a smaller partion?

Hi, until I feel more comfortable with Vista I'd like to move it to a smaller
portion of my HDD[E] so I can install XP on the larger portion[C]. Any help
will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If you shrink C with DiskMgmt.msc, you can put XP on an enlarged E:, and
boot to it automatically if you like, but changing the drive letter of an
existing install of Vista is not going to work.

Thanks for the reply Mark, But the most it will allow me to enlarge E is to
97GB for XP while C has 190GB for Vista & I would much prefer to have the
larger capacity for XP.

I tried that & it said i could shrink my C drive 29000mb but i get a
message"there is not enough space on the disks to complete the operation"

back on, perhaps it needs some minimum space. There is a way to cast the VM
manually over to the new E, but you have not got that available yet. I would
think turning off VM during all this, then a manual setting later would do

VM should not be that much of an issue.
