Clean Install from Upgrade disk

I read somewhere that it is possible to clean install Vista from a upgrade
disk.
Is this still possible? for memory you had to install Vista from the upgrade
disk then do a repair install afterwards

First, you have to do a clean install--the only way that this will work
is to not enter your product key when prompted. Simply select the
version of Vista that you've purchased from the list, and indicate that
you don't want to enter the product key. Also, de-select the
"Automatically Activate Windows When I'm Online" option. Install Vista
as normal.

Next, as cumbersome as it sounds, you have to install Vista a second
time--essentially, you're upgrading from the version of Vista that
you've already installed. When prompted, enter the product key this time.

Re: Clean Install from Upgrade disk

One procedure:

Install Vista from the DVD. Do not enter a license code. That'll give you a
30 day demo version. (The installation disk is the same for a variety of
versions. The result depends on the license code.)

Boot the demo version. Run the Vista installation from that. I believe that
the quickest path is to do a complete install, rather than an upgrade.

Return address scrambled. Replace nkbob with bobkn.
