Folder called "Start Menu" appeared on my desktop

I recently copied a shortcut into my start menu and now a yellow folder
called "Start Menu" has appeared on my desktop, I can't delete it and it
won't let me put it in the Recycle Bin

    Windows Vista x64 + SP1

Anyone any idea why this happened, how to get rid of it and how to stop it
    happening again?

    Thanks

    Great, that fixed it

    Thanks for the help !

Pity such an obvious bug is left in SP1 but I suppose with all the other
bugs MS just didn't get time to fix it
