~~~~~~~~~Vista Reboots Itself~~~~~~~~~~
Ok so I play this game WoW
When I played it on XP, not problems
Same machine, same hard drive but upgraded to Vista
NOW the machine restarts itself, randomly, it does a complete memory dump
error and restarts itself!!! And USUALLY but not ALWAYS it is while this game
is playing.
Any ideas? Power Supply unit? More RAM needed now for the same game but
because Vista is using more?
Thanks
RE: ~~~~~~~~~Vista Reboots Itself~~~~~~~~~~
WoW requires, from memory of XP days with it!, 256MB Ram minimum, and I
forget how much graphics it requires.
It is written on the box!
How much RAM do you have for the vista machine now?
As you say, vista is RAM hungry(Home Premium 1G Ram minimum), and Graphics
hungry; it takes 128 MBs Minimum to run Aero
It could just be that there is a bug in the Vista drivers for your display card. Try downloading an installing an updated driver.
Are you getting a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) prior to the restart?
If there is not enough physical memory Windows will use swap file to
store the data, system will slow down, but it won't crash. If you
suspect that the memory has errors you can check it using
http://www.memtest.org/ or build in Windows Vista memory check tool.
Since you did not have this problem with XP I think you have software
problem.
Before upgrading form XP to Vista have you used Vista Upgrade Advisor?
To do list
- Check compatibility of your software with Vista especially antivirus
software
- Update your device drivers - chipset, graphics, sound, etc.
