| | Vista - Side Bar |
| |
| 03-08-2008 | #1 |
| | Side Bar I am new to Vista, running Vista Home Premium. I have created an Admin account with administrator rights and standard accounts for each member of the family, including myself. I like using the Vista side bar but it is too narrow on my standard account to show the headlines of the RSS news feeds. I expected to be able to make it wider and I can do this in the Admin account by dragging the left hand edge of the side bar. However I cannot do this in any of the standard accounts. I tried changing the account from standard to administrator but that made no difference. Why can I change the width of the side bar on one account but not on the others? I would appreciate any suggestions please. Thanks, -- James |

| | Re: Side Bar Gadgets can be dragged off the side bar. When you do this, they get larger. You can actually drag all the gadgets you want off, then close the sidebar & they will remain. Play with it awhile & you may find something you like. -- Good Luck, Keith Microsoft MVP [Windows Shell/User] "James" <James@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:833A8474-AE22-4D59-BD4F-0894E291E060@xxxxxx Quote: >I am new to Vista, running Vista Home Premium. Thanks, -- James I do not remember if this will let you make changes to Windows Sidebar in a Standard account or not, but it will let you make all sorts of changes to Windows Sidebar in a Administrator account. You might give it a try. Windows Sidebar Theme Shawn |

| | Re: Side Bar Regarding the sidebar, if you drag a gadget to the desktop and close the side bar i assume the service continues to run but does closing it actually save any resources?
