Computer only starts in Safe Mode after upgrades went through

I recently went through the automatic update process on or around the first
of March and after downloading and installing the updates I restarted my
computer (like it told me to) and ever since then it has started in Safe
Mode. I tried to do a system restore but it kept saying that restore failed.
I've tried everything I can think of I uninstalled and reinstalled updates
and even tried to uninstall the updates and then try to restart but still THE
SAME THING-Safe Mode only. I recently found out that Microsoft apparently
sent an "update" to find illegal copies of Windows Vista and if I'm not
mistaken that update was KB940510. It was part of the upgrades that were
installed on my computer at that time. I tried to reinstall my Windows Vista
and went through all the processes even as far to call microsoft and verify
my product key with a LIVE PERSON and it still won't work. Can anyone help
me? Please!
