Vista - Display driver stopped responding and has recovered

Does anyone know of a discussion or group reguarding the atimdag/nvlddmkm
error?

Hi Michael,

I do not beleive it is solely ATI,,,,, many video error problems/bsod when
they first releases XP, just different messages

I have been error free for over 19 hours with out a reboot. I disabled the
service "ATI External Event Utility" and all is well for me. I beleive the
utility is not necessary for proper video function more so about the
hotkeys,, couldn't find much info about it. Not certain if this will help you
because it seems this issue if fixed by different jurys.

ATI External Event Utility EXE Module. Another background task which gets
installed when you install ATI display drivers. Under Windows
NT4/2000/XP/2003 the service registers as the “ATI Hotkey Poller� and
further investigation shows that it is related to the handling of various
ATI Hotkeys which bring up specific ATI utilities. Not only is this
facility useless to 99.99% of users, but there is also no documentation
anywhere on those ATI hotkeys !! Additionally some of our more inquisitive
users have been able to prove that ATI2EVXX can sometimes be an incredible
resource hog using up to 85% of CPU utilization !! Older versions of this
background task show up as ATIPOLAB in the Task List.

Turned it off and I'll get back after I'm convinced my driver failure
problem has been turned off with it,

I'm up and running for 32 hours (now) no crashes and just came out of hybrid
sleep mode.

I am curious if disabling the service "ATI External Event Utility" helps
your porolem.
