strange looking sidebar

Gadgets on the sidebar have started to look strange: they appear in
truncated circle. E.G. the clock does not display entirely as before.
Under options I chose the regular display but to no avail. I tried a
system restore but the problem is still here.

any idea?

Is your display running in 32-Bit color mode? And are you using the latest Vista certified drivers for your display?

Yes to both questions. Besides, it only started a few days ago. It was
OK before that.

Do you recall installing any software or making other system changes prior to this "drawing error" happening with the sidebar? Perhaps it's a buggy gadget causing it...

I didn't install anything, and not a new gadget. I just had windows
defender updates downloaded automatically.

Daniel

Have you tried setting the Sidebar to show above all windows so that it is not semi-faded as it is by default?

What Gadgets do you have running in the sidebar?

I did a system restore to way back, like mid February, and I gor my
sidebar back to normal. Now I'm reinstalling the updates one by one to
try to find the offending one. I'll keep you posted. Migtht help someone
