Restricting Automatic Updates to certain network interfaces

Is there anyway to stop windows automatic updates from checking and
downloading automatically based on what network interface is currently active?

I was on a train eariler today using my bluetooth CDMA mobile phone to
connect to the internet (a service which is chargable by the megabyte) when
automatic updates started downloading a bunch of stuff. It would be very
handy if I could stop automatic updates from using that interface.

Is there a way this could be done or should this be a feature request?

Re: Restricting Automatic Updates to certain network interfaces

Hi,

You can't selectively choose which networks to use for downloading, but what
you can do instead is set automatic updates to prompt for whether or not to
download them rather than doing it automatically. This way at least you will
have a chance to decline downloading when connected in that manner.
