Re: Data Recovery Options

I just read the Wiki article (Standard RAID levels - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) and it has increased my expectations of a successful data recovery, which I'll get to on Thursday morning.

Good news. The insurance has cleared the claim (for the hardware), and their check will be payable on Wednesday morning, so I'll be buying my new rig then, which I start building on Thursday morning.

Thanks everyone for all the help I've gotten. Joe, that program you provided a link for (Data Recovery Software to Undelete; File recovery; Disk recovery; Recover Deleted Files) looks to be a rock solid choice for my case, because of it's ability to identify very specific file types, which is what I need done mostly for MP3, WMV and AVI file.

I'll post back after the weekend (hopefully sooner) with news on the success and/or failure of my data recovery efforts.

It's a commercial product, but has "preview" version that will allow you to see what files it can recover, then if you want to use the software to recover the files, then they want you to purchase it.

I hope this helps. Here's the link: Data Recovery Software to Undelete; File recovery; Disk recovery; Recover Deleted Files
Hi .Joe

Thanks for the tip about "http://www.recovermyfiles.com/". It's working better than GetDataBackNTFS.

I performed a partial search on one of my orphaned JBOD drives on Friday evening (the 200GB drive), and the results where impressive - files where recovered without corruption that GetDataBackNTFS could not. Only minor problem is that RecoverMyFiles cannot find filenames. Buts that's a real minor issue, as most of the stuff is internally tagged, making it a breeze to get the filenames back.

On Saturday morning, I started a complete search, with all options enabled, and I'm guessing that I have about 2 or 3 hours to go before it's done, and it's been running now for 28:54:00, and so far it's found 497 AVI files, and 57800 MP3 files - which is about 86% of what was there.

I'll report back with more news in the next couple of hours. Thanks again for the great lead.

Peter,

I'm just glad it worked out for you . Best wishes to get your powerhouse running at top end again. If I can help with anything else, just let me know.
