black screen

I just got my notebook and at random times while I am doing things the screen
will go black. Nothing seems to work and I have to turn off the laptop by
the power button then reboot it. I've had my computer for 1 day. What would
be causing this??

RE: black screen

Go to manufacturer's(Dell, HP, etc) website, and get updates, especially for
Graphics.

Also, make sure you have Windows Vista(Security and Performance) Updates
installed

Re: black screen

If Mick's advice doesn't solve TAKE IT BACK where you bought it and get them
to exchange it.

Re: black screen

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed? There are some
that cause a myriad of problems.
