| | vista system Restore disks My husband & I recently bought 2 laptops, both identical with vista home premium already installed. They came with system restore disks. These were put aside and we now don,t know which belongs to which laptop. Can anyone tell me how to find out which belong to which and if it will do any damage if I use the wrong one. Many thanks -- Baby Boomer |

If the laptops are identical and came with the same version of Windows, the system restore disks are identical too. It doesn't matter which you use. Although some people think that the Product Key is on the disk, it is *not*. It would be prohibitively expensive to manufacture each disk separately that way. -- Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP - Windows Desktop Experience Please Reply to the Newsgroup |

| | RE: vista system Restore disks If the laptops are really identical, the restore disks are almost certainly going to be identical as well. On my Gateway computer, however, I learned that the restore disks did NOT restore everything exactly as it was. It only allowed a reinstall that left me needing to install lots of drivers and applications separately. I hope yours does better than that.
