| | Can not FTP into my website I just found something weird with Vista. I can not FTP into my website. When I type it in I get this error: " Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage Most likely causes: You are not connected to the Internet. The website is encountering problems. There might be a typing error in the address. What you can try: To try to fix this problem, click Tools, and then click "Diagnose Connection Problems..." Retype the address. Go back to the previous page. More information This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including: Internet connectivity has been lost. The website is temporarily unavailable. The Domain Name Server is not reachable. The Domain Name Server does not have a listing for the website's domain. If this is an HTTPS (secure) address, click Tools, click Internet Options, click Advanced, and check to be sure the SSL and TLS protocols are enabled under the security section. " The thing is when I go back to XP 64bit I do not get this error and it works fine when I FTP into my site. Do you know what might be casuing this? |

| | Re: Can not FTP into my website Is this private? Do you want us to try to ftp to your website to see if we can do it. I can try to ftp to your site from WinXP, W2K, and Vista. You just need to provide me the information to do so. What do you use when you try to ftp? | | Re: Can not FTP into my website It does not appear to any issues. Of course I could not ftp with out a login and password but the dialog box came so I assume that there's no problem. I was able to do this with w2k and Vista. "Neal" <jarrettracing@sbcglobal.net> wrote in message news:99535440-90D2-4544-9B6E-FF19CDFEFA77@microsoft.com... > My website is www.jarrettracing.com. | | Re: Can not FTP into my website My mistake. The login, when I FTP, does not come up in Vista, however, I beleive it has more to do with IE7. I don't think there's ng for IE7. Someone else is going have chime in on this one. My next question is this: Can you ftp to your site using the IP Address? Do you have another FTP program set up as your default (ie WS_FTP Pro)? | | Re: Can not FTP into my website Additional information: One of my WinXP machines has IE7 beta installed and I can FTP with it just fine. Therefore, it must be the Vista OS, not IE7. Fortunately, I have an FTP site too. So I'm able to test this too. I'm surprised that I never noticed this before, since I have an FTP site myself. I'm use to using WS_FTP-Pro. Enough of that. Hopefully someone else will let us know what the issue is. | | Re: Can not FTP into my website Are you able to display a log on your ftp server? On my ftp server, when I attempt to log in using the browser, it appears that a login and password is being put in automatically. In my case the login is anonymous...which is causing my error. I'm wondering if there is a place in Vista where you set this login & password? Review your log to see if an attempt is being made to your server and that your server is rejecting it. That would at least put the two of us on the same page.
