Vista - Can I upgrade my laptop Vista home premium version

Can I upgrade my new laptop Vista home premium version with my desktop Vista
ultimate retail version or will MS require me to procure an additional
license? Thank You

You would need another license if it is already installed and activated on
your desktop. Only one install per license.

Actually, you might be able to do this, but you'll have to confirm with Microsoft. You say your desktop PC was loaded with the retail version of Vista Ultimate. You might be allowed to install it onto your laptop, and to activate it, because I'm sure that this is one of the perks of Vista Ultimate. But again, confirm with Microsoft first.

This is allowed for Office 2007.

Yes. The rule is quite clear. It's one copy (or one license) for each
computer.

There's nothing new here. This is exactly the same rule that's been in
effect on every version of Windows starting with Windows 3.1. The only
thing new, starting with Windows XP, is that there's now an
enforcement mechanism.
