Video card? Graphic card?

My OS is vista home premium 32 bit, 2 GB Ram, 120 GB Hard Drive, Dual Layer
8x DVD Burner. I have 65.3 GB left in C: , and 9.35 GB left in D: drive. I'm
thinking of buying pc games, particularly windows dvd games such as Crysis,
Modern Warfare, Flight Sim. etc.I don't know if my laptop has enough to play
such games. I've heard about video card(?) and graphic card(?).I don't know
how to look up those infos from my computer. Someone please tell me what I
need to upgrade, if any, in order to play those games. ALSO, please
recommend a controller to use. I know I still need to use the keyboard
besides the controller.Thank you.

Hello,

On a laptop, it may be extremely difficult to upgrade the GPU (video card). You can find out what your system has by clicking start, then in the search box type dxdiag. That should show you the dxdiag.exe program, double click that, allow it to load, then click on the display tab. It will give you all the details of your video card.

I hope this helps.

Re: Video card? Graphic card?

without knowing the make/model of the laptop, it's impossible to look it up.
usually the documentation that came with the system will tell you, device
manager may tell you, or the manufacturer's website.

Re: Video card? Graphic card?

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1420. Device manager told me nothing useful.

I don't know why you say "Device Manager told me nothing useful". If you had
looked, it would have told you what graphics card (which is the same thing
as a video card) you have. Or you could have done what I did, which was to
Google "Dell Inspiron 1400" and go to directly to the Dell website and look
at the specs. Really crazy-difficult, eh?

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100

Now go to the various games' websites and look up their system requirements.

I can tell you right now without even looking anything up on the game
website that you won't be able to run Crysis on your laptop. You can't
upgrade the video on that laptop so either buy a gaming desktop PC or start
looking at consoles for your gaming needs.
