| | Vista Update causes reboot loop B5384 I have two machines with Vista on them. The one shown below, 1400 on a Soltek, and on the latest a Athlon64 3500 with FX5950U on an Asrock combo 939. Dual boot with XP2 The fully updated installation on the 3500 is running perfectly, I'm posting from it now. The Soltek on the other hand is in a continuous reboot loop following the updates 21 August (my time in Oz). Seems error reporting is involved somewhere. The update has failed about 20 times. This has happened with that machine before but it eventually got there in the end. This time, every boot, it gets through a heap of startup stuff, but right at the end, it blue screens, and loop de loop again. I don't have aero or any extras running on it, it's slow enough already. Understandable, but good to see it works on a very average machine. Until now of course. I've Restored it to before the update, to no avail. Any ideas might help. Finally, I'm a member at PCPitstop.com. I have done some tests and I tell you, the drivers for boards and video better improve soon. XP2 is much better in terms of system speed and operation. Especially the video. I have nVidia Beta drivers in this now, but they aren't much better than the MS ones on the DVD. Glad to be a Beta. -- Soltek SL75KAV, 1400AMD, 768M RAM, 80Gig Seagate. | | Re: Vista Update causes reboot loop B5384 The MS ones are from nVidia as well. If you are using 5384 you are 150 builds behind the EDW builds in use at MS. Did you think that 5384 would improve over time? This is why we are all waiting for RC1. | | Re: Vista Update causes reboot loop B5384--F8 Win Adv Opt or Startup Repair Wayne-- I'm not sure if you are trying to fix one of your Beta 2s--but have you tried the F8 Windows Advanced Options or Startup Repair putting the DVD in and going to setup and the recovery link on the lower left?
