If he can save the files with a "doc" extension, which I know can be done
with newer versions of Works, he can open them on Vista with the free
www.openoffice.org.

Here's a freeware application to convert wps to doc.

A thread like this makes my day. It's proof that the usual nitwit trolls
haven't taken over completely! :-)

It's also made my day by getting good advice and not getting hounded for
occasionally top posting!

Let's hope that last confession doesn't now get me roasted!

Other than "the usual nitwit trolls" you won't find anyone on your case for
top-posting in the MS groups. As a matter of fact you'll see top-posting
more frequently than bottom-posting.

Thanks for that reassurance! I won't be frightened to return!

As I say, I have been very pleased with the advice I have received from
this newsgroup. My first venture into this particular newsgroup.

Regards, Mike

Glad to hear it.
If you have the time stick around and troubleshoot the problems of others.
It's a great way to increase your own knowledge.
