No HTTP connections after installing Vista SP1 - Need Help

I just installed Vista SP1 through Windows Update on my work notebook. Now I
can no longer make any HTTP connections. Email and gadgets connect fine to
the internet, but not IE. I can also connect to my work VPN.

I attempted to seek help from Microsoft but they don't seem to offer any
support for less than $59 (nice ..).

Any advice on this issue would be appreciated. For the time being, I am
going to have to borrow another notebook from IT.

I would advise anyone NOT to install Vista SP1 on a PC that you need on a
daily basis.

Click Start, and type:
CleanMgr
Clean up all your temp files, and restart Windows to try the sites again.

Thanks for your advice Mark - that information is helpful in any case. I
did manage to figure out what the problem was. I dig around the 'read me'
docs and there were a fair number of anti-virus applications listed as having
issues with SP1. I use Kaspersky which was not on the list, but this did
give me the lead that I needed. I had Anti-Virus disabled, but apparantly it
is never truly disabled and it was blocking IE because the exe had changed.
As soon as I re-enabled it and allowed IE access everything returned to
normal.

I'll mention this again since this is good to know - check the read me files
and with your anti-virus vendor to see if it is compatible with SP1. There
were a few listed as not compatible.
