Vista - Will I be able to buy a Vista SP1 Disc?

Will I be able to buy a Vista SP1 Disc?

I remember reading that this was possible, at least with XP, but I can't seem
to find any page that would allow this. The only thing I found was a page
that allowed digital download buyers to get back up discs.

Considering the fact that slipstreaming isn't possible, I would definitely
like to replace my Ultimate retail discs with sp1 discs.

Re: Will I be able to buy a Vista SP1 Disc?

You will be able to get the disks with SP1 included ...When? its not sure
exactly

why get a sp1 only disk when you can get the vista with sp1 encorporated?

But if you are in a hurry, why dont you download the whole sp1 STANDALONE
package and write it on a cd or dvd?

see here for links

Re: Will I be able to buy a Vista SP1 Disc?

Sorry I mean I want SP1 already added to Vista since I can't slipstream
myself. Not SP1 alone.

I don't see the option for XP though?

Re: Will I be able to buy a Vista SP1 Disc?

I know what you mean, and I told you that
MS will be able to send you a disk with SP1 already slipstreamed into the
vista disk
The cost will be shipping and handling mostly.
You will use your own product key with that...

The link I told you is for downloading the SP1 for Vista as a whole
package..

We are talking about vista here.. what does XP have anything to do with it?

Re: Will I be able to buy a Vista SP1 Disc?

Just that I was skeptical about it so I figured if there is a XP page that
does the same thing then there will be one for Vista as well

Re: Will I be able to buy a Vista SP1 Disc?

The OP wants a disk with SP1 on it, not a Vista installation disk
with SP1 incorporated in it - that would be a new installation disk
and it would cost like one. With Windows XP, one could order
a disk with just the Service Pack updates for a small fee. The
only advantage is that you don't have to do a long download and
risk introducing errors, and you don't have to burn it to disk in
order to have it available for future re-installations.

Re: Will I be able to buy a Vista SP1 Disc?

I got a new XP SP2 disk free at the Geek Desk in BestBuy once. I asked, and
the guy said he knows nothing about a Vista SP1 release offer, but I'd keep
my eye on it.

Re: Will I be able to buy a Vista SP1 Disc?

Knowing how qualified the geek desk is, I'm surprised he even knew what
Vista was.

Re: Will I be able to buy a Vista SP1 Disc?

Did the guy at BestBuy give you a disk with XP's Service Pack 2
on it? Or did he give you an XP installation disk which incorporated
Service Pack 2 - commonly called the "XP/SP2" disk? Since it
was free, it in all likelihood was the former (just the Service Pack).
