| Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 | Re: Windows Update does not "see" SP1 Hello to all, I'm new here but not to computers. I'd laike to state for the record that Windows Update WILL offer up SP1 as a download. With that said, I too had the problem of SP1 not installing. I downloaded the standalone pack and couldn't get it to install, Windows Update wouldn't even offer it to me. Long story short...it turns out that Vista 64 did not like my OC's on my processor; set the processor to the default speed....whammo Windows Updates offers up SP1 and I got it installed. I ran these same settings when I was running Vista x32 and had no problems, so... Just something to think about. |

| | Re: Windows Update does not "see" SP1 I don't know, Zilla. Hopefully, someone with more knowledge than I will chime in and help answer your question. I followed your link and read what Microsoft had to say. It seems that installing the download is innocuous; but, who knows? And, would it rectify your problem? "I am no knowing." Good luck. mE "Zilla" <zilla62@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:55DD3F1D-6700-46FA-8F21-33BD50D92CE0@xxxxxx Quote: > http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940510/en-us > Is the above update a pre-requisite? > > "Zilla" <zilla62@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news:2C4A5D6E-3875-4BEB-8694-2A1C6D322FAE@xxxxxx Quote: >> That's what baffles me. >> >> My laptop is 3 mos old, and with latest driver updates, and default BIOS >> settings (for now). >> >> Go wonder. >> >> "Scrivener" <dntsaycant@xxxxxx> wrote in message >> news:6BDBB33B-A86F-46CF-B62B-6140C48464DF@xxxxxx Quote: >>> All I can say, Zilla, is that I clicked on Windows Update; it said the >>> download was available; I clicked install, and literally walked away >>> from my laptop. | | Re: Windows Update does not "see" SP1 Sound too simple a solution but for what it's worth, it wasn't until I put in every update that finally got SP1 to show up--even the ones that said optional. | | Re: Windows Update does not "see" SP1 Ok, that's something I don't normally do. For example, why would I install Silverlight (KB946609) if I'll NEVER use it?
