| | Re: Windows Update does not "see" SP1 Something on the link below might be the reason it isn't showing up. Didn't show up for me either even after removing some questionable drivers but I did a manual download of the larger install package and the update went fine. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=948343 "Zilla" <zilla62@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:1D53F831-4C67-4ED5-AF7C-6628AA4AEE2C@xxxxxx Quote: > My Vista Home Premium 32 (OEM) does NOT "see" SP1 > as a needed update yet. Do you have any idea why it has been released early? I haven't installed it yet-- I think I'll wait awhile, first. Thanks, Dick |

| | RE: Windows Update does not "see" SP1 I was having trouble getting Windows update to provide SP1. I checked all the drivers , etc. Then I found a small note in the SP1 deployment guide that said the Windows update was having trouble scanning if a USB cable to a UPS was plugged in. It suggested unplugging all USB cables. I did this , except for my mouse and Windows update offered SP1 immediately. -- Paul "Zilla" wrote: Quote: > My Vista Home Premium 32 (OEM) does NOT "see" SP1 > as a needed update yet. | | Re: Windows Update does not "see" SP1 It sucks if code requires a full moon, Jupiter aligns with Mars, while I sacrifice my first born on my birthday. With all the SP1 troubles I've been reading, I'll stay off it for now. | | Re: Windows Update does not "see" SP1 All I can say, Zilla, is that I clicked on Windows Update; it said the download was available; I clicked install, and literally walked away from my laptop. I didn't have any problems at all. Somewhere in the process - beginning or end, I can't remember - Update indicated my machine needed approximately 65 megs. And, that was that. I did visit some MS site beforehand for standalone stations, where the download for 32 bit Vista was 450 megs. But it advised I use Windows Vista Update, rather than download the larger version. So, I took their advice. That's my experience. I do have a newer machine - approximately two months old - and that may have played a part, I don't know. Others will have to fill you in on their thoughts. The key, I guess, is to make sure your drivers are all updated. At least, that's what I've been reading in these posts. Hope you find this "comforting". Take care, Ernie "Zilla" <zilla62@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:95077F7E-09D1-4B6E-A3F4-FD169AB76E63@xxxxxx Quote: > It sucks if code requires a full moon, Jupiter aligns with Mars, > while I sacrifice my first born on my birthday. > > With all the SP1 troubles I've been reading, I'll stay off it for > now. > > "PaulB" <PaulB@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news:8A08A5E8-4642-4E1A-BCB6-A0F1970CB867@xxxxxx Quote: >>I was having trouble getting Windows update to provide SP1.
