RE: Close the Technical Beta, and Ship RC1 Directly to the CPP, MSDN,

How will closing the technical beta help? The newest build published on
Connect is 5472 on 7/16/07, just FYI.

Re: Close the Technical Beta, and Ship RC1 Directly to the CPP, MSDN, and Technet Plus.

I'm just using Beta 2 because I can't afford a $1000 for MSDN or whatever.
Haven't had any problems with it as described on this and other threads.
I'm even running the Office Beta without any problems (at least Outlook and
Word).

I'm content to wait for the public RC1 before even thinking about upgrading
Vista. My guess is that the release to the public will be the first or
second week of February - as it appears the hackers are creating not only
zero day exploits but minus day exploits. If MS has to hire the best
hackers in world to beat on Vista they are expecting big trouble.

Not on your word, it won't. Why are you posting this here and not sending
directly to MS? None of us can do anything about it.

Re: Close the Technical Beta, and Ship RC1 Directly to the CPP, MSDN, and Technet Plus.

Most builds will fail standards for release outside of MS at this stage.
Builds released to TechBeta and MSDN get much more stringent testing than
the EDW builds.

Re: Close the Technical Beta, and Ship RC1 Directly to the CPP, MSDN, and Technet Plus.

I think that you are getting Release Candidate 1 (currently due out on
September 7th, 2006), mixed up with both Release to Manufacturing (currently
scheduled for October 25th, 2006), followed by Release to Microsoft
Partner's (currently scheduled for November 2006), followed by Release to
the General Public (Currently Scheduled for January 2006), Just FYI.

Re: Close the Technical Beta, and Ship RC1 Directly to the CPP, MSDN,

You should see the TB folks are pounding the Connect Vista download site
this week. I was just in a beta chat where several were discussing how they
keep a browser tab open to the page and refresh every few minutes.
Personally, I think they are day early.

Re: * Close the Technical Beta, and Ship RC1 Directly to the CPP, MSDN, and Technet Plus.

Every build should be released to everyone. This is about sales tools. Beta
2 showed the public how much things need retooling. RC1 which TAP has had a
build of now since August 2 for about 3 weeks will show them the same thing
whatever build they call it.

They know people TBTs, CPP are going to smack 6 more months, it ain't
gettin' it; and
more "Are you kiddin' me?"" will sink in.

MSFT has ya in their hooks Kevin. Anyone's focus should be on two things
that go to lack of the transparency issue Michael wrote on:

1) They block information on what bugs are fixed and bug contexting to the
public. Connect isn't open for this info and it hides a picture of bug
progress.

They are hiding it and they're way the hell too paranoid. These entities
aren't formulae for a new Coke product.

2) Anyone should be focused on their arrogant stance which is "Screw the
quality" we're shipping this in part piece of crap out as fast as we can."
The six weeks delay was not near enough and part of it was due to OEMs'
difficulty getting parts in from places like China and Taiwan.

It is quintissential oxymoron that MSFT is talking up coupons to suck people
into buying pcs before Christmas. Many of them haven't tried Vista so they
don't konw how much work it needs. But many of them will never try that
much of a Windows OS in their lifetimes anyway.

Most people check email, use a little Office and go to a few websites,
google a little and that's the extent of it. MSFT knows this.

There will be some thinking 'thankfully he has given up that annoying
