| | wmpnscfg.exe does not exist, but is in startup. Make x64 apps def Hello! 'c:\program files (x86)\windows media player\wmpnscfg.exe' is listed on the Startup tab in the 'System configuration' window in my Windows Vista x64. But the 'c:\program files (x86)\windows media player\wmpnscfg.exe' does not exist actually. I deleted the 'c:\program files (x86)\windows media player\wmpnscfg.exe' from hkcu\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run but starting the WMP adds the c:\program files (x86)\windows media player\wmpnscfg.exe to the hkcu\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run again. Why? Why is the c:\program files (x86)\windows media player\wmpnscfg.exe in the hkcu\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run at all? How to make IE x64 and WMP x64 default applications, not 32bit versions? IE x64 is 4 times faster and stable than IE 32bit. Best regards, Dima |

| | Re: wmpnscfg.exe does not exist, but is in startup. Make x64 apps def As covered by zachd [MSFT] Hope it helps. http://www.pcstats.com/NewsView.cfm?NewsID=57598 That's a short version that links to a fuller version of How To. The key is the SwapTo flag and the Path value. Those articles should cover it in full. If you have any troubles, lemme know. Should be pretty straight-forward. =) -- Speaking for myself only. See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. | | RE: wmpnscfg.exe does not exist, but is in startup. Make x64 apps def Dima, I found the explanation relating wmpnscfg.exe in Spanish here: http://www.genbeta.com/2008/03/12-pa...-y-wmpnetwkexe If you wanna get rid of it fire up WMP11, click on Library, Shared Multimedia... - or however they are translated from Spanish into English - and uncheck the two options. That should remove the entry in the registry. Make x64 apps Dima, I don't know how, but you can place a shortcut in your desktop to: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe and run IE 64-bit from there. ![]() Carlos "Dima" wrote: Quote: > Thanks Carlos for the wmpnscfg.exe! > How to make IE x64 default, not IE x86? > "Carlos" wrote: > Quote: > > Dima, > > I found the explanation relating wmpnscfg.exe in Spanish here: > > http://www.genbeta.com/2008/03/12-pa...-y-wmpnetwkexe > > If you wanna get rid of it fire up WMP11, click on Library, Shared > > Multimedia... - or however they are translated from Spanish into English - > > and uncheck the two options. > > That should remove the entry in the registry. > > Carlos > > > > "Dima" wrote: > > Quote: > > > Hello! > > > 'c:\program files (x86)\windows media player\wmpnscfg.exe' is listed on the > > > Startup tab in the 'System configuration' window in my Windows Vista x64. | | Re: wmpnscfg.exe does not exist, but is in startup. Make x64 apps The version of IE that gets launched depends on where you launch it also. If you click on a link from a 32-bit program you get IE32, and from a 64-bit program, IE64. I personally have both shortcuts in quicklaunch as I use both depending on whether I want/need the addons that don't work in 64-bit. Its a nice way to eliminate flash when you don't want it and have it available when you do.
