| | SP1 Funnies MS update has installed SP1 on my PC with no obvious problems, but there are a few oddities emerging. None very important to me, but it would be nice to get them fixed if possible My PC is dual core with 4G RAM running Vista Ultimate. Bit Locker is on. One Care is installed 1. Recovery from sleep does not work. It effectively just reboots, but more slowly than usual. It did not work before either but I had hoped SP1 would fix it 2. I seem to have lost the Media Center, but I never used it much anyway 3. I cannot turn on Guest account or make a new user. It seems to work but when trying to log on to the new account I get "User Profile Service service failed the logon' I was trying to set up for a friend to use my PC for a presentation, but he can always use my own account if I cannot set up one for him 4. I used Bit Locker to encrypt my external backup drive. All OK but when I used Backup & Recovery to make an image of my C: drive after SP1 installed it warned me the backup was not encrypted. I assume it actually is encrypted but the warning is a hangover from before. Any advice/comment appreciated John Meers |

For the sleep related issues, look at this tutorial that addresses many sleep situations: Power Options and Sleep Mode Problems For the user profile error, this tutorial should help: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded. For the guest account issue, this tutorial should also help: Guest Account - Turn On or Off For all other issues related to SP1, Microsoft is giving users free tech support. You can find it here: https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...4&gprid=500921 I hope this helps. |

| | Re: SP1 Funnies That found media center. No wonder searches for 'Media Center' did not find it! No luck with sleep though. It still thinks for ages and then reverts to a normal, or error, startup.
