"Couldn't find driver software for your device"

When I try to download recordings from my Sony DCR-TRV-33 digital handycam I
get the message "Couldn't find driver software for your device". I have
Vista, so the driver software that came with the camera will not load as the
camera is a few years old. At least my computer recognized that something is
plugged in. According to the Sony website Vista should automatically
recognize my camera, but it doesn't. I've looked on Sony and Microsoft's
website but can't find a driver to download. I've talked to Sony and
Microsoft. They seem to want to blame each other. I have tried using a USB
cord and following the directions in the manual. I know the USB port works. I
have not tried using firewire as I figured you would still need a driver. Any
suggestions on how to get my computer to recognize my handycam would be much
appreciated.

Unless Sony writes a Vista driver for the device...
there is really no chance it's going to work. Though it's possible an XP
driver will work...There is also a chance that installing an XP driver
will damage your system
