Installing SP 1

I have a laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium. I have tried 4 times to
update to the Vista SP 1. All 4 times the install has failed with an error
code of 80041315.

I cannot find any information on this error cade and what is wrong.

Please advise any help in order to get the update to install.

Try turning off your McAfee (or other third party) firewall.

Re: Installing SP 1

If your installation fails using Windows Update you can download and install
as a standalone installer:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

I tried for 2 days to get windows update to install SP1 and it kept giving
various errors, I downloaded and installed this and it installed without a
hitch.

According to my info, this error means:

"The Task Scheduler Service is not running."

Is it?

Re: Installing SP 1

I only tried twice, but by the time it had 'rolled back' the system twice,
more than three hours had gone by....

Windows Update History records both failed attempts, but this morning on
booting up, rather than reminding me that I need to download nearly 70Mb
worth of SP1 updates, Windows Update tells me that Windows is Up to Date.

So which bit of Windows Update do I believe? Where I can I find out, because
the System info doesn't mention SP1... just says Windows Vista Ultimate.

Sorry if sounding sharp.... confusion doesn't suit me in the mornings!
