If you accidentally overwrite a file, right-click on the file, then select "Restore Previous Verions". In the case of a deleted file, right-click on the folder that contained the file. |

| | Re: Shadow Copy issue The issue is that there are no "previous versions" Neither changing the content, deleting or overwrite a folder, made "previous versions" available. In my test after deleting the folder, after making a restore point, and trying to retrieve it again from "previous versions" did not work. Example a subfolder folder called "test", saved in my documents folder and accidentally deleted after restore point could not be restored as shadow copy. If you have a suggestion about how to perform such a test, please let me know. | | Re: Shadow Copy issue Where are you looking for/how are you trying to invoke "Previous Versions"? It should be a tab on file or folder properties; it isn't AFAIK a context menu/right-click thing for example. Lookin in the normally hidden system folder "System Volume Information" - could you list the file you see there with their sizes? I suspect there will be files if creating a System Restore point was reported as successful... if so the question remains how to get at them. If we knew e.g. the properties tab was missing that would be a start... -- Julian I-Do-Stuff Some Vista stuff, but mostly just Stuff at http://berossus,blogspot.com "bimbobo" <bimbobo@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:66FD58D2-78F0-4B6F-B4BE-A5EE7C2B2610@xxxxxx Quote: > The issue is that there are no "previous versions" > Neither changing the content, deleting or overwrite a folder, made > "previous > versions" available. > In my test after deleting the folder, after making a restore point, and > trying to retrieve it again from "previous versions" did not work. > Example a subfolder folder called "test", saved in my documents folder and > accidentally deleted after restore point could not be restored as shadow > copy. > > If you have a suggestion about how to perform such a test, please let me > know. > Regards > > -- > Intel E8400 C2D 3.0 > GForce 8600 GTS 512 > 2GB DDR2 6400 > WD 80GB > Vista Ultimate (danish) > > > "Dzomlija" wrote: > Quote: >> >> bimbobo;662771 Wrote: Quote: >> > Hi, >> > I made this test.. >> > >> > 1) Created a folder called test >> > 2) Folder is saved on desktop >> > 3) Made a system restore at this point >> > 4) Deleted the test folder from desktop and removed from recycle bin >> > 5) Tried to restore a shadow copy, but none is available >> > What is wrong? >> > I have Vista Ultimate (danish) no SP1 yet >> > Regards >> > -- >> > Intel E8400 C2D 3.0 >> > GForce 8600 GTS 512 >> > 2GB DDR2 6400 >> > WD 80GB >> > Vista Ultimate (danish) >> How did you try to restore this shadow copy?
