| | Re: Recovery console in Vista? Thank you for the prompt response. Among the many pages I read, is the one you advice, Yet.. "The System Recovery Options menu is on the Windows installation disc. The menu might also be installed on your hard disk if your computer has preinstalled recovery options." No where it tell me how to install it, as in the all one X:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons. I have clean installed Vista on new hard disk, rather than over XP, which hard disk had preinstalled portions on a reserved partition, that I do not have now. At any rate, the Console directory was always in the main partition. Hopefully you have further advice. | Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Recovery console in Vista? The Recovery Console is only available from a Express or retail Vista installation DVD. This will show you how to get to and use it. Startup Repair If you only have a OEM Vista Recovery DVD or Recovery Partition on your hard drive, then it may not be available to you. However, this will show you how to create a Recovery DVD of your own anyway to use to help repair Vista with. Create a Recovery Disc Hope this helps, Shawn |

A retail Vista installation DVD will already include these recovery options when you boot from it. If you follow the instructions in the link in the tutorial's example, it will show you how to do each individual recovery option. Create a Recovery Disc There is also the Advanced Boot Options that you can use when you boot. You can see the details on this here. Advanced Boot Options Is there anything particular that you are needing or wanting to do? We may be able to give you more precise instructions on how to achieve it. Hope this helps, Shawn |

| | Re: Recovery console in Vista? Hello Rolando, The procedure to install WinRE (the recovery console) is not straightforward, and is usually done by the OEM/System Builder. It requires the WAIK (Windows Automated Installation Kit), and a technician computer on which to build the necessary images that will then be installed onto the end user pc. See here for a guide: http://technet2.microsoft.com/Window....mspx?mfr=true "Rolando E Creagh, MD FACS" <recreaghmd@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:OxybAtGkIHA.1132@xxxxxx Quote: > From a retail Ultimate Vista DVD, which is the procedure to install such > console? > Thanks > -- Jane, not plain 64 bit enabled :-)Batteries not included.
