| | Re: "Search" in Vista folders...options....search.... "always search file names and contents" "don't use the index" I believe its the indexing that is the problem after making these changes the search function is not slow "Mick Murphy" <MickMurphy@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:495030D7-1DE5-406C-9617-9B41650C634A@xxxxxx Quote: >I find Search in Vista good! > Search is one of its best points! > -- > Mick Murphy - Qld - Australia > > > "Jdr" wrote: > Quote: >> Why "Search" is so ineffective in Vista (Ult)? >> When searching in Win XP internally on PC or on news groups >> results are shown almost immediately. >> But in Vista it take ages if you get any result at all. >> Any reason for that? >> >> Jdr >> |

| | Re: "Search" in Vista I wished I could say it and could hear from more than few users. Theoretically and from what Microsoft say you might be correct. But practically when you have 4 HDrives, each 500GB and Drives D:\ and E:\ large volume of data (about 50% each) then you have a problem which you shouldn't have. ................. Instant Search in Vista ?? http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pro...antsearch.mspx "Mick Murphy" <MickMurphy@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:495030D7-1DE5-406C-9617-9B41650C634A@xxxxxx Quote: >I find Search in Vista good! >> >> Jdr >> |

| Windows Vista x64 Ultimate | Re: "Search" in Vista Search in Vista is for me one of it best features. With 1.2TB of storage that is about 85% full, we're talking about a huge number of files. In many cases, I can't type fast enough to keep up with the speed at which results are returned in a search. |
