| | Fiji? I read somewhere in the above posts something about Fiji but can't find it now having spent all of 5 seconds looking for it. The post likened Vista and Fiji to ME and XP with a lead in time of about 2 years. I'd like to suggest that the lead in time be 6 months ![]() On the basis that designing an OS for 2007 hardware should be available in 2007 and not 2009. Releasing an OS in 2009 that meets 2007 hardware spec struggles to meet incremental and evolutionary changes in hardware slowing the whole cycle down. Can't we have Fiji in 2007? |

| | RE: Fiji? That was probably me that posted it. Fiji is going to be NT 6.x. Not much is known except that Fiji is a minor update to the NT 6.0 kernal, and the fact that the codename exists. Wikipedia.org did have a wiki on it, but was taken down (I don't know why). I guessed on the 2009 release, because it will probably take two years from pre-alpha to RTM. http://www.microsoft-watch.com/artic...1948571,00.asp "deebs" wrote: > I read somewhere in the above posts something about Fiji but can't find > it now having spent all of 5 seconds looking for it. > > The post likened Vista and Fiji to ME and XP with a lead in time of > about 2 years. > > I'd like to suggest that the lead in time be 6 months ![]() > > On the basis that designing an OS for 2007 hardware should be available > in 2007 and not 2009. > > Releasing an OS in 2009 that meets 2007 hardware spec struggles to meet > incremental and evolutionary changes in hardware slowing the whole cycle > down. > > Can't we have Fiji in 2007? > |

| | Re: Fiji? I can't say I'll do cartwheels around the room at the prospect of Max on the basis of: a) my upload speed b) recipients download speed c) traffic that may affect both at the time always assuming that my computer is on when the recipient wishes to download. <sheesh> And for that we have to wait till 2009? </sheesh> Hasn't another organisation provided a suitable solution pre-2007 without the drawbacks of a), b) and c) as outlined above? |
