storage battery

Where can I see how long my storage battery will work? I wonly see it in per
cent. Where can I change it?

Re: storage battery

The amount of time it lasts depends on what you do during at that time. A
wireless connection, used constantly to go to internet sites would burn the
battery much faster than the system running nothing. The percent of charge
left is really the only measure available, since the variables of use and
consumption would be too complex to predict meaningfully. How long it would
last depends on how much you use it. Would you be taking a 15 minute break
in a while? How would that be factored in?

Re: storage battery

Hi andi,

As Mark says, the operating life of your battery depends upon what you use
your laptop for. However, the display format of charge remaining is dependant
on the laptop manufacturer and the driver that it uses to report battery
status. Some give a percentage, some give a time remaining and some give
both. In all cases, the status is an estimated value of battery life
remaining. Unless the laptop manufacturer supplies another driver enabling
you to monitor the battery life in another format, then I'm afraid that you
are stuck with it being reported as a percentage.

Re: storage battery

My wife's Gateway laptop show both the time and percent remaining on the
battery when hovering the cursor over the battery icon in the Notification
Area of the Task Bar. I don't know if I can change it.

like...
2 hr 25 min (92%) remaining
current power plan: Balanced
